Why Heia exists
Heia grew out of hundreds of real reviews of other baby apps, out of the things parents wrote there again and again. They are moments almost every family knows: not remembering at night which side came last. Wondering whether the other person has already changed the nappy. Suddenly being asked to pay for things you need every day. And having nothing but scraps of paper at the paediatrician's.
That became Heia: a baby tracker that stays quiet at night, whose everyday use is free and that you can use together as a family. We think it is wrong to put tired parents behind a paywall. That is why all 16 entry types, shared tracking for two and your first appointment preparation are free. Heia Plus, an optional yearly or monthly subscription, is for the depth beyond that. There is more about the app on the home page.
Heia helps you document everyday life and gives general, age-based guidance. Heia is not a medical device and does not replace medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
Editorial principles
Alongside the pages about the app, there are guides on topics around the first years, such as checkups and growth charts. Fixed rules apply to these pages.
Official and primary sources
We base health and legal statements on official bodies and primary sources. For the English pages these are, for example, the World Health Organization, the NHS, the UK Health Security Agency, the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, the CDC and the American Academy of Pediatrics. We do not cite blogs, manufacturers or other app providers as evidence. Every page names its sources with a link.
Date and currency
Every page shows when it was published and when it was last reviewed. If a source changes, for example a guideline, we update the page and set a new review date.
Describe, not diagnose
Our pages describe how something works and where reliable information can be found. They do not assess any individual child, give no dosages and set no fixed deadlines for development. Where there are ranges, we give ranges. Every child develops at their own pace. For questions about your child, your GP, health visitor, midwife or paediatrician is the right place to go.
Calm and without fear
We write for parents as competent adults: factual, calm and without scaremongering.
No ads on the website
This website shows no ads. There are also no product recommendations and no affiliate links on these pages.
Who writes the pages
The guide pages are currently written and editorially checked by the publisher. They have not yet been reviewed by a medical professional. A professional review by a midwife and a paediatrician is being prepared; pages that have been reviewed will then be marked accordingly.
Contact and corrections
Have you found a mistake, is a source out of date, or is a topic missing? Write to us at kontakt@getheia.app. We check reports of errors and correct the page if they are right. The same goes for questions, wishes and bugs in the app.
